Pirates of the Carribean 3 : At Worlds End

Its been a while since I saw the second movie of this particular
trilogy in fact I only saw it once at the movies.Hence at the
beginning it took me a while to get my mind going on what was
happening!A little recap would have done nicely I reckon.Well back to
the third movie and yes its damn confusing.Not so funny like the first
one and not a satisfying end to the trilogy.The special effects are
excellent but the usual Jonny Depp seems a bit flat.Its like we have
seen this somewhere before and its nothing new.Orlando Bloom is a
total bore in this movie and seems to be going through the motions
here.The plot is bit tricky to understand but hey this was just a
supporting role to Depps antics and the special effects and adventure
of the movie itself.We get the special cameo from the Rolling Stones
Man which is nothing special while even Geoffrey Rush as Captain
Barbossa is not so brilliant as he was in the first movie.Chow Yun Fat
is totally wasted in this movie.The only one that shows some spunk is
Miss Kneitley.Also at nearly 3 hours its quite long.Scores 3 out of 5.

The Springboks and the Rugby World Cup

Interview in todays Argus with Jake White,talks about his starting
line up and how he gets to it.Unfortunately no mention of what the
tactics will be,will it be attacking free flowing rugby?Hardly likely
seeing that he is more going for Butch at flyhalf.So see the same old
South African tactics of smashing it up with the forwards,the rush
defence and preying on opposition mistakes to get the points.

Lord of the Rings : The Return of the King

I caught this great movie on Sunday on ETV,The lord of the rings is
undoubtably the greatest trilogy of movies ever made and maybe even
three of the best movies made ever.Peter Jackson is a legend for
bringing Tolkiens work so expertly to the big screen.If you have never
watched under what rock have you been living?Brilliant acting,amazing
scenery and special effects with awesome battle scenes one is never
bored with this movie.Well maybe the end does drag a bit and maybe the
hobbits show to much love for each other making one to consider
whether you know?But anyways that are just small little teensy
gripes.The movie scores 5 out of 5

Australia vs Wales Rugby Test Match 26 May 2007 Sydney

Its 22-20 to Australia with 10 minutes to go.What has happened to
Australia Rugby?Back 4 years ago this would never have happened.After
a dismal Super 14 for Aus teams it looks like this could be another
terrible year for Wallabies.A drop goal for Wales sees them lead now
23-22 8 minutes to go.This is supposed to be a second string Wales
Team.Comment of the game so far after the first scrum Phil Kearns
"thats what the people come to see Scrums",wtf??are aussie spectators
so thrilled by scrums?Problem for Aussies there no good youngsters
coming through to replace the aging old stars like Gregan,Larkham and
Mortlock and the fact their pack of forwards are powerpuff.

Unbreakable

Samuel Jackson and Bruce Willis are reunited for the first time since
Die Hard with a vengeance.Totally different movie here though,no major
action and no comedy at all.What we have here is your typical
Shaymalaan Movie, Hope I got his surname right its been a long
night.You know his movies that keep you guessing and has that Big
Twist at the end that makes you go Wow,that was such a twist I will
talk about ending and forget the 100 minutes preceding it that was
boring and slow and made you think get to a damn point.I must say I
was impressed by the Twist,the movie is fine not bad but not to
great.Not going into much plot detail here as might give away
spoilers.Scores 3 out of 5

Cape Town 20th May 2007

Its a cold winters night.The wind is blowingI,its pouring rain and you
cant hear any birds singing.I cant sleep so whats there to rant about
in the Mother City?How about the fact the public transport sucks.Hey
just in the week two taxi drivers were arguing about a parking
spot,the one pulled a gun and shot the one dead.That sends shivers
down a mans spine sometimes.Ebrahim Rasool Premier of the Western Cape
marched somewhere regarding something and told us Luke Watson is a
black man even though he is white.The DA and the ANC continue to blame
the woes of the Western Cape on each other.Not that many people cares
about Zille the superwoman who leads the DA and is mayor of Cape Town
in her spare time and Rasool,there is a general lack of apathy
regarding politics because of the fact the two of them are just big
talkers, no action.There might be a road named after Taliep Pietersen
musician/actor killed earlier in the year.Lets just forget the fact
that his killers have not yet been caught nor is there any
leads/motives/suspects.By naming a road after him we can cover up the
fact that our police is no CSI.I took a taxi this week,hey it was a 15
seater and guess what it had 15 passengers excluding the gaartjie and
driver.

FA CUP FINAL 2007 Man Utd vs Chelsea

1-0 to Chelski with Drogba scoring the goal after a neat 1-2 with
Kalou in the 116th minute.This was a terrible game notable for
basically nothing.Giggs missed a sitter with 5 yards open in front of
the poles in the 104th minute or so which should have won it for Man
Yoo.Otherwise first half was like a boring chess game with neither
team willing to attack.Watching Chelsea play has been tough this
season.They tough and resilient, but you would think they have more
panache and flair.

Super 14 Final 2007 Sharks vs Bulls

So an exciting game of rugby was settled by an excellent try by Bryan
Habana.I must say I was impressed by the standard of Rugby of the
South Africans.The Bulls have really improved their ball handling
skills, case in point Matfields ball through the hands pass to
Spies.JP AND Steyn are two excellent prospects for SA and everytime
they got the ball I was on the edge of the seat expecting something.On
the bulls side it was that man Habana and Spies that were thrilling to
watch.There was pretty of aimless kicking going around in the middle
stages and when Van den Berg scored I thought it was game over,but a
crucial missed conversion by Steyn gave the bulls hope and Habana
scored a brilliant try.Hugh Bladen was his usuall annoying self on
Supersport,luckily Stransky was there to backup him up with sound
comments.Also what is up with Bladens obsession with the players high
schools?Over on SABC IT was even worse with the inane Craig
Marais.SABC is becoming a haven for bad etv rejects in the form of him
and Eben Jansen.

Whats new?

Been writing exams lately which has taken up all my time.So the big
news has been the story with Luke and Jake, Jake old boy this never
would have happened had you never had started to slang off Luke in
public.Its quite simple Jake has a thing against Luke and he does not
want to budge on what this "thing" is.So there is two SA Teams in the
Super 14 Final, im still flabergasted about that one, but lets face it
will mean jack squat if SA dont win the World Cup.See All Blacks in 99
and 2003.

Spiderman 3

 

"Go get em tiger".Probably the most highly anticipated movie of 2007 was released over the Weekend.It's smashing box office records as I speak but dare I say lots of people will be disapointed.I enjoyed the movie but after two excellent first movies this had a lot to live up to and unfortunately it falls flat on its feet.While the action and special effects/CGI is flawless the plot is a bit thin, there is a lot of crying and it's a bit draggy.The lack of "venom" in the storyline really hurts it.Topher Grace is excellent as so is Tobey , though James Franco and Kirsten Dunst acting leaves a lot to be desired.So im a bit airy fairy on the rating so I will go with a 3 out of 5.
